Summary
This lesson introduces Wi-Fi, the standards behind it, and the events that helped it become widely used. Understanding these foundations makes it easier to see how Wi-Fi devices from different manufacturers can communicate.
Wi-Fi is a family of wireless networking protocols based on the IEEE 802.11 standards. It lets nearby digital devices exchange data using radio waves, commonly to form a local area network (LAN) and provide Internet access.
