Summary
The seabed is the bottom of the world's oceans, shaped by tectonic activity and sedimentation. Understanding its major landforms helps explain ocean depth, geological processes, and the habitats found underwater.
Sediment can partly cover underlying geological features, helping make many abyssal plains appear flat. The sequence is a useful general model, although local seabed features vary.
