Summary

An annotated bibliography is more than a list of sources: it records, describes, and evaluates materials that may support a research project. This lesson introduces bibliographies, citations, annotations, and the ways these tools contribute to research.

A bibliography is a list of sources used during research. Despite the word’s historical connection to books, modern bibliographies may include books, scholarly articles, periodicals, websites, videos, and other media. Depending on the citation style, a bibliography at the end of a paper may be called References or Works Cited.
