Summary
Area describes how much two-dimensional space a region covers. It helps us compare shapes, estimate materials such as paint or flooring, and understand the size of surfaces.
Area is a measure of the size of a region on a surface. Plane area concerns a flat, two-dimensional region, such as a triangle drawn on paper. Surface area measures the boundary surface of a three-dimensional object, such as the outside of a sphere.
