Summary
This lesson introduces Newton polynomials as a way to construct a polynomial that passes through a set of data points. It explains the special basis that makes the form useful and why the interpolating polynomial is unique.
Suppose we know data points , with no repeated -values. Polynomial interpolation finds a polynomial satisfying at every supplied point. Between the data points, the polynomial provides an estimate of the value being modeled.
