Summary
This lesson introduces the defining features of fibrous joints and explores sutures, the joints that connect most bones of the skull. It also explains how skull sutures change during growth and later in life.
At a fibrous joint, adjacent bones are connected directly by fibrous connective tissue. There is no joint cavity between the bones. The connective tissue may occupy a narrow gap or extend across a wider space.
