Summary
Radiography uses radiation to reveal the internal structure of objects, including the human body. This lesson introduces how a radiographic image is made and traces the early discovery of X-rays.
An X-ray generator produces a beam directed toward an object. As the beam passes through, some radiation is absorbed or attenuated. The amount depends on the object's thickness, density, and composition. Radiation that passes through reaches a detector placed behind the object.
